In the face of growing environmental challenges, from climate change to the depletion of natural resources, the role of younger generations in driving sustainable solutions has never been more critical. The "Nature is Future" project was conceived to inspire and empower young people to take an active role in promoting environmental awareness and fostering eco-friendly practices within their local communities. Through creative and practical approaches, the project sought to make environmental protection a relatable and engaging topic for youth.
PROJECT PROGRAMME
"Nature is Future" was implemented over a period of 18 months, beginning on 01 May 2022 and concluding on 01 November 2023. Throughout this timeframe, young participants engaged in a diverse range of experiential learning activities designed to increase their understanding of ecological issues and promote sustainable living.
PROJECT AIM
The overarching aim of the project was to encourage youth to contribute to environmental protection and promote eco-conscious solutions by participating in creative, hands-on activities within their local contexts. Additionally, the project aimed to foster a mindset of conscious consumption, sustainability, and community engagement.
OBJECTIVES
The project aimed to raise awareness among young people about environmental protection and the concept of ecological footprints. It also sought to help them understand the environmental impact of their lifestyles, including their consumption of food, energy, and other resources. Another goal was to show that everyone can take meaningful steps to combat climate change and protect nature. The project promoted the adoption of a sustainable, green lifestyle in harmony with the environment, both on an individual and community level. A key objective was to encourage participants to create and implement local activities and promotional campaigns that would engage the broader community and spread the message of sustainability. Through these efforts, the young participants would also act as multipliers, sharing their knowledge and inspiring others. Finally, the project aimed to motivate young people to become active, responsible citizens in their societies.
TARGET GROUP
The project primarily engaged young people from diverse backgrounds, especially those with an interest in environmental issues, sustainability, and community activism. It also reached out to local community members through awareness-raising events and campaigns designed and led by the participants.
PROJECT ACTIVITIES
A variety of activities were implemented during the project, including workshops on ecological footprints, renewable energy, conscious eating, and sustainable consumption. Participants explored practices such as composting, recycling (3R – reduce, reuse, recycle), and low-impact living. They also designed and led local eco-friendly events and awareness campaigns, thereby directly engaging with their communities. Throughout the project, participants were encouraged to share their experiences, inspire their peers, and promote a greener future for all.
