Despite efforts to make education accessible to all across Europe, significant challenges remain—particularly in addressing the unpredictable demand for future skills, disparities in education access, and the need for more integrated and life-relevant learning opportunities. Low-skilled and low-qualified adults are disproportionately affected by these challenges, often lacking the resilience, learning strategies, and engagement to pursue independent learning. Furthermore, existing training, counseling, or coaching platforms tend to be fragmented, focusing on individual areas rather than offering holistic support. The iPath2UpSkilling project was developed to address this gap by providing an integrated approach that supports adult learners comprehensively throughout their upskilling journey.
PROJECT PROGRAMME
The project was funded under the Erasmus+ KA204 programme, Strategic Partnerships for Adult Education within the 2020 Round 1 Call. It was implemented by a consortium led by Sirius Training CIC (UK), in partnership with organisations from Türkiye, Romania, Cyprus, and Austria. The project ran for 30 months, from October 1, 2020, to March 31, 2023.
PROJECT AIM
The primary aim of iPath2UpSkilling was to empower adult educators, trainers, and guidance professionals with an innovative and fully integrated digital platform and training programme. Through this initiative, the project sought to create high-quality, flexible, and individualised upskilling pathways for low-skilled and low-qualified adults, thereby improving their employability and adaptability in an evolving labour market.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The project’s key objectives were to develop the iPath2UpSkilling Platform and its accompanying Programme; to provide educators with the necessary competencies to effectively use these tools; to build partnerships with relevant education and assessment institutions; and to raise public awareness about the project and its results. More specifically, the project aimed to develop an interactive platform (O1), create an innovative training programme (O2), train at least 25 adult educators (C1 and C2), establish partnerships with at least 50 training and assessment centres, and engage at least 1000 individuals through dissemination activities.
TARGET GROUP
The main target group of the project consisted of low-skilled and low-qualified adults who face significant barriers to participation in lifelong learning and employment. Indirectly, the project also targeted adult educators, trainers, guidance professionals, and counsellors, who were provided with the tools and skills needed to effectively support these learners.
PROJECT ACTIVITIES
Throughout its duration, the project carried out a wide range of interlinked activities. These included the design and development of the iPath2UpSkilling Platform and its resource-rich online library; the creation of a tailored training programme for adult learners; the delivery of short-term joint staff training and blended mobility activities; and the implementation of five national multiplier events to disseminate results. The platform enabled educators to develop personalised learning pathways and integrate both online and in-person instruction, leveraging open educational resources and interactive maps to connect learners with training providers and assessment centres across the participating countries.
