The EduChampions project was developed in response to the urgent need for inclusive and equitable education, in line with the objectives of Sustainable Development Goal 4 and the European Union's Inclusion and Diversity Strategy. Research indicates that while learner diversity is widely recognised, innovative practices that effectively address this diversity remain limited in the vocational education and training (VET) sector across Europe. EduChampions is grounded in the understanding that every learner has unique needs and that fostering educational inclusion requires learner-centred pedagogies, the effective use of educational technologies, and an edupreneurial mindset among educators. The project also aims to highlight the role of inspirational edupreneurs who drive change and innovation within educational ecosystems.
PROJECT PROGRAMME
EduChampions is funded under the Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action 2: Cooperation Partnerships in Vocational Education and Training (KA220-VET). The project is being implemented over a period of 24 months, starting on December 1, 2022, and concluding on November 30, 2024. It is coordinated by Ikaslan Bizkaia from Spain, in collaboration with project partners from Turkey, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Latvia, and Spain.
PROJECT AIM
The main aim of EduChampions is to promote inclusive and flexible learning practices in vocational education and training by empowering educators with an edupreneurial mindset. The project seeks to enable educators to become champions of change by integrating learner-centred pedagogies with purposeful and innovative use of digital tools, thereby creating more effective and equitable learning environments that meet the needs of diverse learners.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES AND TARGET GROUP
The project’s objectives are to foster inclusive and flexible approaches within the VET sector that address learner diversity, to promote the adoption of innovative pedagogies and educational technologies, to cultivate an edupreneurial culture among VET educators, and to share inspiring practices and stories of edupreneurs across Europe. The primary target group of the project includes VET educators, trainers, and teachers. Secondary target groups consist of VET providers, policymakers, educational stakeholders, and the broader community of education professionals across Europe.
PROJECT ACTIVITIES
To achieve its goals, EduChampions is implementing a series of strategic activities. These include the development of the EduChampions Interactive Board, which will showcase inspirational stories and best practices of edupreneurs; the design of the EduChampions Learning Path, a modular training programme that covers learner-centred pedagogies, digital tools, and edupreneurship; and the creation of the EduChampions Online Learning Stations, an open-access digital platform offering learning modules, interactive tools, and self-assessment resources. In addition, the project is organising dissemination events, multiplier events, and training workshops aimed at promoting project outcomes and fostering cross-sectoral collaboration within the VET community.
